A 14-year-old girl was bitten by a shark in Cocoa Beach Florida.
The girl, who is from Ohio, was swimming just south of Lori Wilson Park on Friday when the incident occurred.
Maj. Scott Rosenfeld from the Cocoa Beach Police Department said it’s a “pretty serious injury”.
The young woman has been taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital.
This is the second incident in Florida on Friday and the third in Cocoa Beach during the month of May.
The location has been marked on the 2015 shark bites attack tracking map.
This is the twenty-seventh bite attack of 2015, six of which were fatal and two of which were out of water (normally fisherman bitten by their catch).*
*The information is based on reported shark bites attacks. It is possible the number could be higher as the incidents are not reported or have been slow to reach the US.
